To install µAudio:
- Upload the ‘microAudio’ folder to /wp-content/plugins/
- Activate from the plugins menu.
- Done.
To activate auto-configuration, auto-starting or download links:
- Visit “Settings > µAudio”
- Choose appropriate options
As of 0.6, µAudio automatically includes jQuery 1.3. As 1.3+ is a requirement, you should probably not remove it unless you know that jQuery 1.3 plus is being loaded. If you do use an external jQuery, then you need to edit microAudio.js.php and add the following at the top:
var mAjQ = jQuery;
Previous versions required hacking around in k2.rollingarchives.js.php if k2 was your theme of choice. This is no longer necessary. If you had made changes in previous versions, they should be removed (an install of the latest k2 will also take care of this automatically).
To skin µAudio using CSS, check out the example classes provided in microAudio.example.css. These will skin every aspect of the player. You only need to include the classes which you wish to override, and the rest will default to the built in values. Sizing the player is done similarly, see readme.txt form more.

Who's Lookin'
Hey. Love the plugin, but doesn’t work with the newest version of Firefox 3.0.1. I also use a MacBook. Works fine with Safari, but in Firefox the link does not respond when clicked.
Thanks!
Hey. I followed the directions and sad enough it still doesn’t work for me. I use Internet Explorer 7, the lastest version of wordpress and still no luck with anything.
@Nellie:
Internet Explorer 7 has some known issues with this version.
A new version will be out soon.
Hi Chris,
I have audio-player (1PixelOut version) and it’s deactivated.
And now i’ve activated micro-Audio.
Is the syntax same with Audio-Player? ::: [audio:mySong.mp3]
I didn’t find any ‘Usage’ help page in your website.
Nice works, Thanks
@Kardjo:
Nope, there’s no silly shortcodes. Simple create a link to the MP3 file like
hi,
is it possible to show the flash player immidiatly? so you dont need to click the title of the song. like here: http://www.jillij.com/galleries/music-gallery/
@fanSte:
Use the Audio Player plugin, that’s what it’s for.
very nice player! I like autoreplace functions like this for mp3.
maybe it would also be great for a variation on this plugin to add a smaller flash-object, something like a very small headphone or speaker, could be an animated gif behind the mp3-link (so not below the link, just one space at the end of the mp3-link). now the flash object is very big compared to the cleaness of the link for switching audio on/off.
How do I use the sidebar widget? I mean, where do I place links for it to play?
Hi, I found this plugin clever and easy to install. I have the same problem as some other users in this post with regards to the widget: I can see on the sidebar but I cannot link music. Is there anything wrong I am doing? Can anyone help or have found the solution?
Thanks
G.org
Again me, I have a “nice to have” request for the multiple songs on a post, would it be possible to have an if condition to stop the player when another song in the same post is started? This would make this plugin perfect!!! Thank you
G.org
@Giorgio:
1) The widget isn’t working right now. That’s the top thing on my list as soon as I get profiles working with 2.7+, I’m completely rewriting the widget.
2) This is a requested feature, but will probably not make it until 0.7.
Beautiful plugin, thanks!
When run this on IE7, I get a script error, line 53 “Object Required.” Any thoughts?
Hello,
I have a problem, when I play I hear bad all songs, Why?
*All songs is ok whith the extension .mp3.
help… when i click activate in wordpress i get this error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /homepages/44/d122164136/htdocs/blog/wp-content/plugins/microaudio/microAudio.php on line 83
please write to me at the provided email address for more info. thanks so much!
@Mike Mahoney:
Turn off the sidebar widget. It makes internet explorer sad.
I placed the “<a href…” code in my post, the link appeared. When the link is clicked, the collapsed player also appears. But when the play button is pressed, it expands and displays the following text within the player: “File not found”
So my question is this, is there a specific location on my computer where the mp3 file must be placed in order for this player to work?
Btw, I’m using Firefox 3.0.1.
Thanks in advance!
@Iowa Bob:
The file needs to be somewhere on the web, you can either use the WordPress upload tool to upload it to your server or use some other system (ftp, WebDAV, etc). But, you should be able to access the file via http://url.com/somefile.mp3. Then simply use that as the contents of the href in your post.
I’m sure this is a fine audio/MP3 player. But being new to Wordpress I am struggling to make it work.
Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the effort you have put into it – but it is not plug’n'play – there are precious few instructions.
How does one get the music to play, how do you get a player button to appear? What are the specific blow by blow instructions and the procedure that need to be followed?
Cheers,
Steve
I’m having the same trouble as the last guy. I’m putting the full http address in but no good. Any other ideas?
@Steve Hart:
1) You create a link to an mp3 file.
2) The user clicks on the link.
I don’t really know how to make it much simpler. If those two steps don’t work, then there’s a bug.
I am, of course open to suggestions on how to improve the player and documentation.
@Bhakta:
Make sure that the link works. That is to say, if you copy the link to the mp3 player into the browser, do you get the file?
Also, some download “engines” can cause flash to fail if they do not output the correct MIME headers when they send the file.
Hi Chris. I was looking for something similar to this and I am glad I found it (and it was relatively easy). I implemented something similar in a Blogger blog, but yours was indeed plug-and-play (and it helped that the native skin fit my blog perfectly).
It’s working fine for me, in WP 2.7.1. It took automatically the same CSS as my website: very cool, thanks for that plugin.
I have a question: is it possible to have the player to be apparent in the page before the user has clicked on the link?
I just want to complete my question with this: I was using Audio Player and I love it, it’s a great little piece of software, but on the new site I am building, it doesn’t appear. Maybe it’s a conflict with NextGen gallery? I just don’t see the example player in the settings and it doesn’t show either on the page…
Hi. I recently downloaded your audio player for my new Wordpress blog but I am clearly missing a step and was hoping you could help steer me in the right direction.
Here’s what I got:
1. I have loaded the player into my WP plug-ins and activated it.
2. I created a folder named audio onto my server and it resides with all the Wordpress files/folders.
3. I upload an mp3 file into said audio folder
Now what?
Hello, How can I change/tweak the player so it unify with my website? Also, when I configure to “outplay” the player does not load the images that correspond to “pause, sound track and title” on the player. You can hear the audio, but the only thing you see is an horizontal stripe with the volume icon on the left.
Thanks!!
@iconico:
It’s on the feature request list.
@iconico:
It will only show if there’s actually a link for it to play. Otherwise it’s invisible.
@John:
Make a link whose target is an mp3 file:
@Pedro:
1) See the microAudio.example.css file
2) If the player does not find acceptable values, the defaults may make it blend into the background.
